Fremont Crash Victim Identified

The person was killed last weekend on I-880.

FREMONT, CA — A man who died in a traffic collision on Interstate Highway 880 in Fremont on Saturday was identified by the Alameda County Coroner as Daniel Uriah Thrower, a 27-year-old El Sobrante resident. Editor's note: the victim was previously reported to be a woman.

Thrower was driving a white Ford Taurus south on I-880, just north of the Decoto Road west on-ramp. At about 8:40 p.m., he collided with a blue Prius before striking an embankment.

Thrower was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was uninjured and there were no passengers in either vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal collision is under investigation by the CHP.
