Fremont Festival Celebrates 30th Anniversary This Weekend

The free two-day event boasts art, wine, music and more.

The Fremont Festival of the Arts — “the largest two-day street festival west of the Mississippi,” according to its website — marks 30 years in the community this weekend. 

Nearly 400,000 people are expected to attend the free festival, which boasts activities for everyone including carnival rides, a car show, crafts, art for sale, live music, food, wine and beer.

The event will be held in central Fremont this Saturday, Aug. 3 and Sunday, Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.

Roads will be closed as the sprawling festival stretches from Paseo Padre between Mowry and Walnut avenues to State Street between Mowry and Beacon avenues and Capitol Avenue. See the festival map here.

  • Kid City: An area where youth can enjoy rides and games.
  • Music: Free live entertainment.
  • Artists: A wide array of items that can be purchased.
  • Gourmet Marketplace: Food and treats, from pastries to jerky, to buy for your home.
  • Car Show: Check out classic rides or enter your own to win an award in a number of categories.
  • Wine Garden: Tickets to the garden includes premium wines, a buffet lunch, a preferred parking space and more.
  • Business Alley: A trade show of numerous local businesses.
  • Food: And lots of it.
  • Wine, Beer, Margaritas: Selection features wines from throughout the state and country as well as draft and craft beers, including local breweries such as Das Brew.

The cost for a wine glass, beer mug or margarita cup – which can be kept as a souvenir – is $6. Cost for one pour of wine, beer or margarita is $5.

Attendees can pay to park in a field near Mowry Avenue and Paseo Padre in front of Washington Hospital West but free street parking may also be available around the area.
