Botched Grow House Burglary Leads To Wild Chase, 3 Crashes And 10 Arrests

A botched grow-house burglary led suspects and authorities from three agencies on a chase after four vehicles and more than 10 suspects.

FREMONT, CA — Authorities on California's Central Coast arrested nine people from San Francisco and the East Bay, including a juvenile, following an early morning burglary in progress at a cannabis grow house.

At about 3:40 a.m., the Monterey County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a break-in at a cannabis greenhouse facility on Encinal Road in Salinas. Deputies reported that about 10 suspects were suspected of breaking into the facility and loading cannabis into four vehicles.

Deputies and officers from the Salinas Police Department and California Highway Patrol found the four suspect vehicles near Encinal and Old Stage roads. The drivers did not yield, and several people fled. One vehicle became stuck in a field, another drove into a ditch, a third collided with a CHP vehicle, and the fourth escaped.

Deputies identified the adult suspects as 23-year-old Jalen Camp of San Francisco, 18-year-old Zakhiry Coleman of San Francisco, 21-year-old Chales Hall of Antioch, 28-year-old Cory Woodruff of Oakland, 24-year-old Jonathan Green of San Francisco, 18-year-old Jose Velasco of San Francisco, 30-year-old Dominic Logan, and 30-year-old Dominick Leon Troupe of Fremont.

Authorities charged the adults with burglary, conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of stolen property, possession of a loaded firearm, in addition to other charges, and booked them into the Monterey County Jail.

Police withheld the name of the underage suspect, who was taken to the Monterey County Juvenile Hall.

Bail for Camp, Coleman, and Hall was set at $70,000, and for Velasco at $65,000. Troupe's bail was set at $35,000.
