Fremont Has A New Police K-9 Team

Nala is trained to detect gunshot residue and explosives.

FREMONT, CA — The Fremont Police Department has unveiled a new K-9 team.

Nala is a highly trained bomb detection dog and is expert at detecting gunshot residue. Her handler is Officer Hancock.

Already, this pair has assisted during a Major Crimes Task Force operation in locating both a handgun and a semi-automatic rifle.

They were also deployed at the Niles Tree Lighting Ceremony to sweep for explosives — and Nala quickly confirmed that an unattended package was safe.

In the future, Nala will be trained to track missing people or suspects.
