Election 2012: Harrison Primed For Fremont Mayor

Voting results show that the councilman garnered the most votes.

City Councilman Bill Harrison appears to have clinched the Fremont mayoral seat.

With all 107 precincts reported, Harrison has garnered the most votes with 35.25 percent of the 44,543 votes counted.

Trailing behind Harrison was former councilman Steve Cho with 31 percent of votes.

Harrison, a Fremont native, is the co-owner of Harrison Accounting Group, Inc., which is the oldest accounting firm of Fremont. He was first elected onto City Council in 2006 and re-elected in 2010.

Here is some more information about all of the candidates running for mayor:

  • Aziz Akbari – An 18-year-old college student who currently attends the University of Southern California.
  • Steve Cho – A retired business owner who has served on the Fremont City Council from 2000-08.
  • Bill Harrison – A current city councilman and certified public accountant who was first elected onto Fremont City Council in November 2006.
  • Anu Natarajan – Fremont’s current vice mayor and a program director for American Leadership Forum who appointed onto Fremont City Council in December 2004 and then elected in 2006.
  • Linda Susoev – A longtime Fremont resident, housekeeper and private investigator who has ran for political office in the past.

Harrison appears to be the candidate elected to succeed interim Mayor Gus Morrison, who was appointed to the position after former Mayor Bob Wasserman died in December 2011.
