“If you’ve never been to a Coffee with a Cop event before, this is a great opportunity to get to know our department in an informal and friendly setting,” police said.
Launched in Hawthorne, CA in 2011, Coffee with a Cop is intended to provide a way for police to connect with the community outside of crisis situations. Police say the aim is to build trust amidst changing demographics and communication methods. This community policing program is now in all 50 states and has expanded internationally.
