House Fire Displaces 6 in Santa Clara County

Firefighters from Milpitas, Fremont and San Jose responded to the blaze, according to officials. One pet died in the blaze.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- A house fire Monday morning in Milpitas has displaced six people, fire officials say.

The fire broke out at about 9:30 a.m. Jan. 21 in the 400 block of Manferd Street and prompted a multi-agency response to prevent neighboring homes from catching fire, according to officials.

Firefighters from Milpitas, Fremont and San Jose found heavy smoke and flames and used a chimney to extinguish the fire in the interior of the home.

Six people had safely evacuated the house by the time firefighters arrived but one pet died in the blaze, fire officials told Bay City News Service.

The displaced individuals were going to stay with family and didn't need American Red Cross support, but their home was seriously damaged.

The fire's cause is still under investigation.
