Meeting to Discuss South Fremont Construction Projects to be Held Thursday

The meeting will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at South Bay Community Church (47385 Warm Springs Blvd.) in conjunction with VTA BART Silicon Valley, Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System, Caltrans and BART.

The City of Fremont is partnering with area agencies on a community meeting to discuss the various, simultaneous projects in the Warm Springs/South Fremont area.

The meeting will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at South Bay Community Church (47385 Warm Springs Blvd.) in conjunction with VTA BART Silicon Valley, Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System, Caltrans and BART.

Residents are encouraged to attend.

The meeting will feature presentations on the multiple agencies’ projects including construction activities, traffic detours and schedules. Attendees will also be able to meet with project staff and visit project displays.

Among the key projects being discussed Thursday night are the Bay Division Pipeline Seismic Upgrade Project, the BART/Warm Springs construction work planned on South Grimmer Boulevard; and the Mission/Warren Area Improvements Project, which will see a 12-month closure of Warren Avenue between Mission Falls Court and Kato Road on June 17 to allow crews to trench Warren Avenue under the future BART system.

About the Bay Division Pipeline Seismic Upgrade Project
(via the City of Fremont):

As part of the Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System Improvement Program (WSIP), the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) is preparing for the next earthquake with a major upgrade to two regional water delivery pipelines that cross the Hayward Fault in Fremont. This construction project features innovative engineering including a concrete box composed of sections that can shift and rotate to protect the pipeline during an earthquake.

Construction activities will continue through the end of 2014. Since both pipelines are located underneath the I-680, overnight onramp closures and some lane and sidewalk closures along Mission Blvd. will be required. Residents can follow the project’s blog http://www.sfwater.org/seismicupgrade or Twitter (@I680H2OPipeWork) to get timely updates on closures. About the BART/Warm Springs construction on South Grimmer Boulevard
(via the City of Fremont):

On the southern end of the project, construction crews recently closed the inside lane in each direction along South Grimmer Boulevard between Warm Springs Boulevard and Lopes Court. These lane closures are needed in order to construct the BART South Grimmer Blvd. track way overpass and are expected to last up to five months.
As the work progresses there is a possibility of a full closure and intermittent night closures as part of this work.

The public can expect temporary construction-related noise during the work. BART will monitor noise and dust and will attempt to minimize any inconveniences to the surrounding community. For more information about the project, please visit the project website at http://www.bart.gov/wsx

The Warm Springs/South Fremont Station is expected to open in late 2015.
