Neighbors, Firefighters Help Contain Fremont Apartment Blaze
Witnesses used several fire extinguishers to keep the flames from spreading before firefighters arrived.

FREMONT, CA — Neighbors jumped into action to help battle a fire Sunday at a Fremont apartment, according to the Fremont Fire Department.
Officials said a 911 caller reported a working fire at the Sundale North Apartments on Blacow Road a few minutes after noon. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a first-floor unit. According to the fire department, neighbors used seven fire extinguishers to attack the flames through a broken kitchen window before fire crews arrived.
Firefighters had the blaze under control within a few minutes, preventing the fire from spreading to other units, but the apartment suffered significant damage. Officials said the residents were not home during the fire, and the Red Cross was called in to assist with displacement.
