String Of Alameda Armed Robberies: Police Announce Arrest

ALAMEDA, CA — The Alameda Police Department arrested one person in connection with a string of armed robberies. Five separate robberies dating back to late September are linked to the suspect, according to detectives. In each case, the victim was walking alone when they were approached and threatened with what appeared to be a gun.

"On November 13, the Alameda Police Department executed a search and arrest warrant in both Alameda and Oakland," police said in the statement to the community. "During the search, officers located bank cards, a credit card scanner, and a replica firearm. The suspect was taken into custody."

Although this suspect is in custody, police offered these safety reminders:

• Be aware of your surroundings – Stay alert, especially when walking alone.
• Limit distractions – Avoid the use of electronics that can hinder your ability to scan the area around you.
• Keep valuables out of sight.
• Walk in well-lit, busy areas – Try to stick to routes that are well populated and have good visibility.
