Suspicious Package At Fremont Police Station Brings Out Bomb Squad

The package was deemed harmless.

A suspicious package was found in the Fremont Police Department's mailroom Thursday morning, according to authorities.

Police decided to evacuate the building, located at 2000 Stevenson Blvd., because of the unmarked package, according to Fremont police.

The Alameda County bomb squad was called in around 11 a.m. Eventually, bomb technicians determined the package and its contents were harmless, Alameda County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. J.D. Nelson said.

The department's front lobby was closed for two hours while the package was investigated, police said.

Police calls and service were unaffected by the investigation.
