This Week: Interfaith Thanksgiving; Healthcare Reform Discussion

Find out events going on in and around Fremont this week.

Heads up! Here are five things going on this week that you should know about:

  • Learn more about the President's healthcare reform Monday night at a special healthcare reform forum hosted by the League of Women Voters. From 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Fremont Library, Alameda County Health Care Services Director Alex Briscoe will lead a discussion about what new changes will take effect, how the new reforms will impact the county and more.
  • Everyone is invited to the annual Tri-City Interfaith Council's Thanksgiving program Monday night at St. Joseph's Church, located at 43148 Mission Blvd. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. and will feature an interfaith service, music and inspirational messages from various cultures and faiths. Attendees are invited to bring bring a treat to share during the reception, as well as canned goods for the Tri-City League of Volunteers.
  • Local seniors can receive free blood pressure and glucose screenings every Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Fremont Senior Center located at 40086 Paseo Padre Parkway. The center also offers other free services to seniors on an ongoing basis, including legal assistance, social security and health insurance counseling and estate planning.   • Local artists are invited to paint with others in the community every Tuesday at the Fremont Art Association Gallery's Tuesday painting group. The group meets from 11 a.m. to 3 pm. at the gallery, located at 37697 Niles Blvd.
  • Young professionals: spend your Thanksgiving eve with the Rotaract Club of Greater Fremont. The group, which serves the Tri-Cities, holds weekly social mixers every Wednesday at Color Me Mine, located at 37324 Fremont Blvd. The mixers are for anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 who want to have fun while doing community service.
