Thornton Jr. High Receives Third Threat in a Week

Schools in Tracy and Pleasanton also continue to receive similar threats.

Another threat was called into Thornton Jr. High School on Monday — the third time in less than a week, police said.

According to the Fremont Police Department, the call came in around 2 p.m.

Officers responded to the campus without disrupting any classes. No threat was found, said Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques.

The school was not evacuated or locked down.

Last week, the school received bomb threats made by a male juvenile on Wednesday and Thursday. A 14-year-old boy was arrested for conspiring with an unknown suspect to phone in the threats.

“We don't know exactly who the caller is,” Bosques told Patch. “We have reason to believe that it's not another student at the school, but are still thick in the middle of working this case.”

Bosques said the Fremont callers may be copycats as similar threats have been made at schools in the region.

According to the Fremont Argus, Kimball High School in Tracy also received a bomb threat — its third threat in the past two weeks — after a note was found in a student’s locker. The same Tracy school was put on lockdown on March 8 after threatening graffiti was found in a girl’s bathroom. No threats were found.

Another school, Tracy High School, also received two threatening notes last week. Two students were eventually arrested in connection with the threats, according to the Argus.

In Pleasanton, two high schools received threats last week.

On Tuesday, “Watch me shoot everyone on March 14th,” was written in the girl’s bathroom, according to Pleasanton Patch. Amador Valley High School also received a threat on Friday.

Schools aren’t the only establishments receiving threats.

A bomb threat was called into the Albrae Street Walmart on Saturday. A similar bomb threat was also called into the Union City Walmart. In both incidents the stores were evacuated but no threats were found.

However, police don't have any reason to believe that there is a connection between the school and department store threats, Bosques said.
