FREMONT, CA — Only one person was home when a fire started in Fremont shortly before noon on Wednesday. After being alerted by neighbors, that person safely escaped before the Fremont Fire Department arrived.

But it took firefighters to save one of the family's beloved pets, Tinkerbell the bunny, who was near the front of the residence.

The fire was at a home on Salton Sea Lane. Firefighters attacked the flames and extinguished it in about 20 minutes. There was moderate damage to the home, with the attic and two exterior sheds bearing the brunt.

There was also extensive damage to a shared fence with the neighboring property.

No injuries were reported. Two adults and one child were displaced by the one-alarm fire, along with their two pets.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
