FREMONT, CA — The Tri-City Animal Shelter has been awarded a $20,000 grant from Mars Petcare to support its new Tails of Joy program, designed to help first-time dog adopters experience the joys of pet ownership.
The initiative aims to assist multilingual and immigrant families in adopting and caring for their first dog.
In Fremont, 49-percent of residents were born outside the U.S. and 63-percent speak a language other than English at home.

Tails of Joy will provide educational resources, tailored adoption counseling, and ongoing support to ensure a smooth transition into pet ownership.
Specifically, the Tri-City Animal Shelter plans to use the grant to expand its outreach, connect more families with adoptable dogs, and create a welcoming environment for pet ownership. The program will launch this summer.
