Chaffey District Teacher Charged With Sexual Misconduct in Glendora

The Contra Costa Times reports an English teacher committed a sexual crime against a minor in a Vons parking lot in Glendora.

A Chaffey Joint Union High School District English teacher was arrested in 2010 for sexual misconduct with a 17-year-old student in a Glendora parking lot, according to the Contra Costa Times.

From district documents, the newspaper reported Tuesday that in July 2010, an English teacher with the school district was charged with one felony count of sexual penetration by a foreign object and two misdemeanor counts of child molestation.

Corporal Jason Tibbetts with confirmed the report to Patch, stating that Bruce Jones, 64, had a sexual encounter in December 2009 with the student in a Vons parking lot in Glendora where the student lived at the time.

Contra Costa Times also reports that the teacher sent the student text messages that were sexual in nature, according to district records.

According to the Contra Costa Times, the teacher was put on paid leave in January 2010, then was suspended without pay pending dismissal in May 2010.  The newspaper reports the teacher resigned in September 2010, with the resignation effective the following May. His credentials were suspended the following December, but the newspaper could not confirm if they were also revoked.

Tibbetts confirmed that Jones was convicted of the charges and was sentenced to 234 days in jail and five years probation. He is currently registered as a sex offender, according to Tibbetts.
