Glendora Boy Scout Troop to Host Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony

Residents may take their old American flags to the June 15 ceremony to be retired.

From Gordon Rowley, Boy Scout Troop 483:

The 28th annual flag retirement ceremony, conducted by Boy Scout Troop 483 and the Serrano Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 15 at the United Methodist Church, 201 East Bennett Avenue in Glendora.

According to Boy Scout Committeeman Gordon Rowley, “When American flags are deemed unserviceable, they are to be retired and destroyed with respectful and honorable rites. This is accomplished by first burning the flags and then burying the ashes.”
