Mother’s Day: Five Ways to Pamper Mom

Give that special mom the Mother's Day treatment with these five tips.

With mothers voting a day at the spa the number one gift for Mother’s Day, it seems most mothers just want to be pampered on their day of appreciation.

So we asked a local day spa owner the top 5 ways you can pamper your mom on Mother’s Day.

Beryl Gosling knows something about being pampered. She owns one of Glendora’s first day spas, opening , the first spa for skin care in the downtown Village Center in 1984.

Since then, Peaches and Cream grew from a one-room business to a 5,000-square-foot full day spa facility complete with 14 treatment rooms, a sauna and a meditation garden. One of Glendora’s many businesses offering spa and skin care treatments, Beryl said Peaches and Cream has thrived for nearly three decades because of a loyal clientele and staff.

“A spa is a place where mom can have a day to herself,” said Beryl. “She can come here, relax, feel rejuvenated, and get pampered any day of the week, not just Mother’s Day.”

So how do you make the special mom in your life feel like a goddess?

Have mom wake up to breakfast

Start off Mother’s Day as soon as she open her eyes in the morning.

“A meal of all the food that mom loves makes it really personalized and special,” said Beryl.

If mom has young children, having the kids take part in making breakfast for their mom could be a fun activity. If you’re not an early riser, treating mom to her favorite restaurant is always a nice gesture. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time. Restaurants are usually busy on Mother’s Day.

Better yet, said Beryl, have the spa bring the meal to mom.

“Here at Peaches and Cream, we can go out and get the meal for her and she can enjoy the meal in our garden,” said Beryl.

Give Mom the day off

“Whether she’s a working mother or a stay at home mom, there are always a lot of responsibilities,” said Beryl. “Having a day where mom doesn’t have to think about all those responsibilities would be a wonderful gift.” A day of leisure could vary for each woman, but ideas include a day at the beach, or moment alone in a garden or park, a hike on one of Glendora’s many trails, tickets to see a show or a movie, and of course, a day at the spa

Treat her to a massage

“Most people just don’t know how tense their muscles really are,” said Beryl. “A relaxing massage can relieve the stress and tension.” With so much stress piling throughout the day, a massage to loosen up the muscles and all the knots can be a great stress reliever, said Beryl.

Beautify her

A woman loves to feel beautiful, said Beryl. That’s why a soothing facial, or skin or makeup consultation would be a great gift. Peaches and Cream Day Spa has several lines of skin care products any woman can try such as Dermalogica. Taking mom out shopping for a day can also be a fun bonding experience for mother and daughter, said Beryl.

Indulging in her sweet tooth

Does she like sweets? How about a basket of her favorite candy, pastries or baked goods? Perhaps you can order or (if you’re the crafty type) make her a gift basket or arrangement of her favorite fruit.

Try the popular chocolate covered strawberries – a treat most moms appreciate, said Beryl. Pair the chocolates with champagne, and you have a luxurious treat for mom.
