This Week in Glendora: National Night Out, Road Closures and a Protest Against Gay Teacher’s Firing

Some of the top headlines and events in Glendora this week.

1.   No, your eyes were not fooling you if you drove by the Glendora Baskin Robbins Friday afternoon and saw a car halfway inside the ice cream shop. A 71-year-old woman swerved to avoid a car in front her and crashed through the store’s window. It was the second time in two years a car crashed through the same Baskin Robbins.

2.   Glendora Police is hosting a National Night Out Against Crime with free hotdogs, facepainting, fingerprinting, an earthquake simulator, replica B-17’s for kids and more. The event takes place Tuesday, Aug. 6 in the Glendora Village Bus Transit Center on Glendora Avenue north of Foothill Blvd. starting at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m.

3.   There are road closures planned this week during construction for the Metro Gold Line. Motorists should prepare for delays in construction areas.

4.   A protest is planned in front of St. Lucy’s Priory Thursday in support of a gay teacher who was fired from the school following his wedding ceremony to his partner in July.
