• Proposed Settlement for Goleta Sewage Spill Draws Concerns From Environmental Watchdog (noozhawk.com) — Goleta residents are watching a proposed $1.55 million settlement over the 2024 sewage spill that sent more than a million gallons of wastewater into the Goleta Slough and ocean, closing Goleta Beach for 22 days. Environmental group Channelkeeper is questioning the penalty amount and communication delays, ahead of a Water Board hearing in late February.

• Joshua Molina returns to Santa Barbara News-Press, taking the helm as editor - Santa Barbara News Press (newspress.com) — A Goleta resident, longtime journalist Joshua Molina, is now leading the revived Santa Barbara News-Press as its new editor, nearly 20 years after first reporting there. He plans to rebuild the newsroom, expand coverage of Santa Barbara County issues like housing and transportation, and help restore the paper’s lost archives, while continuing to teach and report across the South Coast.
