• Sponsors Sought for Goleta's Fourth of July Drone Light Show (noozhawk.com) — Goleta is already recruiting sponsors to keep the city’s 2026 Fourth of July Drone Light Show free for the community at Dos Pueblos High School. Local businesses and organizations can choose from sponsorship tiers, help fund security, entertainment, and services, and even leverage a $25,000 matching grant from Yardi Systems to expand community support. 
• Butterflies Go High Tech in a Race to Save Their Species (keyt.com) — Researchers working at Ellwood Mesa and the Goleta Monarch Butterfly Grove are tagging monarch butterflies with tiny high-tech transmitters to better understand their migration and help protect the species. Using an app called Project Monarch, local scientists and volunteers are tracking real-time movement and temperature responses as monarch populations face steep declines from habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change.
