Here's When The Windsor SMART Station Will Open
Testing is planned for much of April as SMART prepares for the opening. Here's what to know.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The SMART station at Sonoma County Airport will be closed most weekends in April for essential system testing as the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District prepares for a late spring opening of the new Windsor train station.
The closures are set for April 5-6, April 12-13, April 20 and tentatively April 26-27, SMART announced Friday.
Beginning in early April, test trains will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. between the SMART Airport train station and Windsor, SMART also announced.

"This is an exciting milestone as we prepare to bring SMART service to Windsor," said Eddy Cumins, SMART general manager. "Expanding our rail network means more connectivity, more sustainable travel options, and greater convenience for North Bay residents."

During testing and until a Quiet Zone is established, train horns and crossing bells will be heard from Airport Boulevard to Windsor per the requirements of the Federal Railroad Administration.

The Town of Windsor is applying to the California Public Utilities Commission to establish a Quiet Zone. Once approved and implemented, routine train horns will no longer sound at designated crossings except in emergency or safety-critical situations.
"We appreciate the community’s patience and support as we complete this critical step toward welcoming riders to our newest station," Cumins said.
