The holiday is typically held on the second Saturday of August to allow neighbors to clear out their junk as it could be another's treasure.
To take part in the event, we found two garage sales listed on Craigslist happening in Hermosa Beach on Saturday:

- 961 5th St., from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For sale: Electronics (DVD players, video game consoles, stereo system, etc), furniture, BBQ grill, lamps, DVDs, vacuum cleaners, designer clothing, home décor, and kitchenware.
- 136 2nd St., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For sale: TV, entertainment center, recliner chair, antique oak coffee table, file cabinet, wall art and decorating items, and jewelry.
