City Prepares for Green Block Party
Thursday's event will include demonstrations of energy-efficient technologies and practices to help residents save money, according to city officials.

Hermosa Beach and the countywide initiative Energy Upgrade California will host a Thursday on 30th Street to demonstrate how residents can upgrade their homes to become more energy efficient, and save money while doing so.
"This block party is the perfect one-stop shop for folks to find out what they can do to save energy and money, and we hope it encourages others to take a green step forward," said Hermosa Beach Mayor Howard Fishman in a statement Monday.
The city this month for some fee waivers and rebates when they upgrade their buildings to become more environmentally friendly.

These upgrade incentives will be explained further at Thursday's event, and property owners will be eligible for a $200 energy upgrade coupon on a first-come, first-served basis.
The block party has been scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. at Hermosa Beach residents Dorothy Forba and Ken Hartley’s home at 723 30th St. The event will end at 7:30 p.m.

"We are proud of how the city and community work together to conserve energy, protect the environment and fulfill our commitment to a greener future."
