City Reminds Beachgoers: 'No Alcohol'

As the city's summer concert series is set to begin Sunday, city officials remind beachgoers that alcohol is prohibited on the surf and sand.

As this year’s summer concert series is scheduled to kick off Sunday, city officials have issued a reminder to residents and visitors that alcohol is prohibited on the beach, where the series is taking place.

The English Beat is performing as the first free concert in the annual series at 5:30 p.m. near the Hermosa Beach Pier.

Performances will be held each weekend until Aug. 21.

“The Hermosa Beach Summer Concerts are a wonderful local tradition enjoyed by young and old alike,” said Mayor Howard Fishman in a statement Monday. “We are so proud to be able to continue this tradition, and we want to ensure everyone can continue to enjoy it safely.”

Hermosa Beach police will be monitoring the Pier area during each show in the series to enforce the ban on drinking alcohol on the beach, according to city staffers.

Saint Rocke is organizing the concert series this year, .

“We want to thank Saint Rocke and the many other businesses who have contributed to the continuation of the summer concerts,” Fishman said. “Partnerships with local businesses and community groups have been critical to preserving community events and reducing the city’s financial burden. We appreciate all of the support these businesses have provided the city, and we look forward to continuing to work with them.”
