Comments of the Week: EVs, Public Pee

The Hermosa Beach City Council this week talks about electric vehicle charging stations and public urination—Patch readers weigh in on the discussion.

The Hermosa Beach City Council in a meeting Tuesday night discussed possible locations to install charging stations for electric vehicles, and the ongoing issue of public urination downtown. Hermosa Beach Patch readers weighed in:

  • "When smoking was banned on the beach it was because of the cigarette butts, no one ever suggested enforcing the no littering laws already on the books. Now we have public urination, in the interest of consistency and following the cities logic, close the bars." — wrote .

Charging Cars

The council agreed on where charging stations for electric vehicles could be installed: three on Pier Avenue and one at the municipal building. It was also suggested that the stations could serve as 15-minute parking spaces when unused. One Patch reader commented:

  • "I'll be very surprised if these stations get much use. You'll have one or two enthusiasts plugging in and then it'll sit unused 99 percent of the time. As a 15-minute parking space it'll be a great success." — wrote .
