Hermosa Extends Limits On In-Person Services To Jan. 31

The City of Hermosa Beach announced today that it is extending its limitations on direct, in-person services until at least January 31, 2022 to protect the health of staff and the public during the current surge in new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.

The City, which had previously announced limitations on in-person services from December 29, 2021 to January 18, 2022, decided to extend the limitations until at least January 31, 2022 because of the increase in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths caused by the highly infectious Omicron variant.

Hermosa Beach Police Department, Public Works Department and Los Angeles County Fire Department will continue to provide services in person. Outdoor areas including parks, playgrounds, restrooms and sports courts will continue to be open to the public.

The City’s other services will continue to be available by phone or online. If an in-person meeting is needed, City staff can arrange to meet a member of the public in front of City Hall.

The public can continue to attend Hermosa Beach City Council meetings in-person or participate online or via phone. The Council’s next scheduled meeting is January 25, 2022. The Hermosa Beach Public Works and Civil Service commissions have meetings scheduled this week, and they will continue to be conducted virtually. The Planning Commission meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday night has been cancelled due to the lack of a quorum.

Several L.A. County cities – including the neighboring cities of Manhattan Beach and El Segundo – have also limited their in-person services to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
