• DUI Checkpoint Planned In Hermosa Beach This Week (patch.com) — Hermosa Beach residents are being alerted to a DUI checkpoint this Friday night, running from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. at an undisclosed location chosen using crash data. Police stress that impairment can come from alcohol, drugs, or marijuana, and warn that a first DUI offense can bring steep fines and a suspended license.
   

• LA Chargers star kickers wants South Bay youth to give back (dailybreeze.com) — Hermosa Valley School students just launched a new Wholeheartedly Club, backed by Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker and the Hermosa Beach City School District, to turn their service ideas into real South Bay projects. From nature hikes to safer dog parks, local kids pitched ways to improve their community while connecting with nonprofits like the Hermosa Beach Sister City Association and Beach Cities Health District.
