Phase II Of Hermosa Beach's South Park Renovation Starts Thursday

The city will begin installing new picnic tables, park benches, play equipment and shade structures.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA — Phase II of the South Park renovation will begin Thursday and will last for approximately three weeks, the Hermosa Beach Public Works Department announced Wednesday.

The department will begin installing new picnic tables, park benches, play equipment and shade structures. The construction is expected to last until July 14.

South Park will remain open during the improvements but certain parts of the park may be closed to the public, the department said.

Renovations started last year after more than a decade of urging by local parents. When completed, South Park will be one of the few parks in the beach cities designed for wheelchair accessibility. The renovation is estimated to cost around $755,000 when completed.
