"Sitting just on the north side of the pier and in striking distance of the local bars, the Hermosa Beach Open is a continual party for the weekend warriors and families alike," tournament organizers said in a statement. "In a town where beach volleyball is a way of life, every athlete wants to establish their legacy at this event."

The women's field is highlighted by the team of Betsi Flint, a five-time AVP champion, and Kelly Cheng, who competed in last summer's Tokyo Olympics under her maiden name Kelly Claes.

The scheduled list of competitors is available online.

This will be the third of five AVP Pro Series events this season. The season closes out with tournaments in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on July 29-31 and Atlantic City, New Jersey on Sept. 16-18.

The AVP Gold Series, which stages just three events, will visit Manhattan Beach on Aug. 19-21. Details about tickets to that event are available on the AVP website.
