Residents Weigh In on Heal the Bay Report Card

Environmental group Heal the Bay ranked Hermosa Beach as one of the cleanest and safest beaches in California, giving the city an A grade. The rating was based on the coastal water's low levels of bacteria pollution. According to residents, the city's clean beach water is one of the factors that contributes to the community's healthful lifestyle.

A team of judges will be visiting Hermosa Beach on Thursday to determine whether the beach town is selected as a "vitality city" in a nationwide competition sponsored by well-being organizations Healthways and Blue Zone. A winner will be decided in mid-July.
