Sea Hawks Take Down Oxnard; Advance in CIF Playoffs
On home turf in Sea Hawk Bowl, the team escapes with a narrow win and now take on No. 1 Calabasas.

The Redondo Union High School Sea Hawks advanced in the quarterfinals of the CIF-Southern Section Western Division playoffs by beating Oxnard 7-0 at home Friday night.
The team (10-2) now heads to Calabasas Friday to play Calabasas (11-2), which beat Lawndale 33-7 in their quarterfinal game.
“We came into the Oxnard game well-prepared for what they wanted to run on offense,” said Redondo Union defensive coordinator Keith Ellison in a Beach Reporter post. “Our players have been doing this all year. They prepare for each opponent and play with great intensity on Friday nights. It was an outstanding performance by our players.”

Said RUHS Coach Matt Ballard in an Easy Reader post, “The defense picked the perfect time to deliver a shut out, and our offense did enough to keep the ball moving and secure the win.
“Our enjoyment of the victory will be short lived but we have the honor of practicing over Thanksgiving break. Calabasas has a high powered offense and a shutdown defense so we’ll need to focus on our preparation.”
