Hermosa Beach City School District officials received a report that a student had threatened a shooting on campus.
HERMOSA BEACH, CA — A threat of a shooting at Hermosa Valley School Friday was found to be "unsubstantiated," according to the Hermosa Beach Police Department.
Hermosa Beach City School District officials received a report Friday that a student at Hermosa Valley School had threatened to shoot specific people and students on campus, the Hermosa Beach Police Department press release said.
School officials notified the Hermosa Beach Police Department, and officers responded to the school to assess the threat. After an initial assessment, which included speaking with the students involved, the threat was determined to be unsubstantiated, police said.

"The Hermosa Beach City School District and the Hermosa Beach Police Department always take these reports very seriously," the press release said.
The incident is still under review by school officials and the police department.

The investigation comes one day after a teenager shot five classmates, two fatally, at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita.
