Hermosa Beach police Saturday morning found a on Manhattan Avenue. Authorities arrived at the residence after neighbors reported hearing an argument followed by a gunshot, police said. A homicide investigation was launched.

Authorities on Christmas Day near Hermosa Beach as Michael Gilbert, a 56-year-old homeless man, county sheriff's detectives said. The body was found Dec. 22, sparking a homicide investigation.

New road rules

The California Legislature approved new laws on booster seats, drunk driving, vehicle fees and vehicle purchases that went into effect Sunday. Patch last week published a for local motorists.
