- High tide in Hermosa Beach will hit the coast at 11:43 a.m., according to surf-forecast.com, with low tide at 5:11 p.m. Surf is a southwest swell with waves measuring about a foot-and-a-half. The wind is from the east and the swell action is fairly consistent. Water temperature is 68 degrees. Sunset will be 8 p.m. The high today is expected to be 73 degrees; the low, 64.
- As E&B's proposed oil drilling project application process moves forward, community members are invited to attend a public scoping meeting tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Community Center, 710 Pier Avenue. Public input is being solicited for the city's required Environmental Impact Report analysis of potential environmental impacts. Comments on the scope of the EIR may be submitted anytime from now until August 12 via email, regular mail or dropped off at city hall. 2013. - Nearby Redondo Beach continues its free summer concerts with The Free Valentines Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. on the pier. Justin Hopkins will perform Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. Beach chairs are welcome.
- South Bay Beer Olympics will take to On The Rocks Sports Bar, 239 North Harbor Drive, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check out the event's Facebook page.
- A Woodstock Tribute takes the stage in Manhattan Beach Sunday as part of the city's free summer concert series. Concerts are outdoors in Polliwog Park from 5 to 7 p.m.
