PARK(ing) Day on York Boulevard

At least four small businesses along York Boulevard are participating in PARK(ing) Day today, Friday, in front of Skinny Studio on 5025 York Blvd. A large piece of fake grass will lead from the store’s doorway onto the sidewalk and into the parking space beyond, where visitors can sit on furniture and a bench wired with electrical outlets meant for laptop computers. In case you didn’t know, PARK(ing) Day is an international event in which people take over parking spaces for several hours and use them for community leisure, effectively turning a parking space into a park.

Mark your calendars: Free samples from more than 50 vendors will be on offer tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Fresco Community Market on
5914 Monterey Rd. Natural, organic, gluten free products, with an emphasis on local producers, are aimed at introducing visitors to healthy eating habits.
