More than 30 adults and children participated in the second in a planned series of workshops Thursday evening aimed at designing York Park, the latest addition to L.A.’s “50 Parks Initiative” on a quarter-acre piece of vacant land on York Boulevard and Avenue 50, near the border of Highland Park and Eagle Rock.

Hosted by the office of Councilmember José Huizar and the Los Angeles Department of Recreation & Parks, the workshop was held at Buchanan Elementary School. Attendees worked on the project’s design details, going a step further than the first meeting in which they viewed design drafts created by community members.
