“Mr. Harrigan’s Phone”

What if suddenly you could still communicate with the dead through a phone that they had left behind? This is exactly the premise of “Mr. Harrigan’s Phone,” a horror-thriller, starring Donald Sutherland and Jaeden Martell, based on a novella by Stephen King.

The story features a boy named Craig (Martell), who befriends the older Mr. Harrigan. When the elder passes away, the teen puts a cell phone in his older friend’s pocket during the burial.

As goes by, Craig struggles to navigate life. Feeling desperate, he decides to call his dead friend to vent his despair. Then, the unthinkable happens when, suddenly, Craig gets a return text from beyond the grave.

"Mr. Harrigan's Phone" is available on Netflix Oct. 5.


“The Midnight Club”

Another in the horror-thriller genre, this series follows a group of terminally ill teens at a remote hospice. Every night at midnight, the group gathers to tell scary stories.

As their friendship grows deeper, the group make a pact that the first to die must send a signal from beyond the grave. Before long, someone finally delivers on the promise, sending tremors of terror through the walls of the hospice.

"The Midnight Club" is available on Netflix Oct. 7.


“The Watcher”

Based on a true story, this new horror-mystery series stars Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale as a married couple who moves into their dream home in New Jersey. Soon, tension rises between them and their neighbors, setting in motion a series of ominous events as they receive creepy letters from a stalker named “The Watcher.”

"The Watcher" is available on Netflix Oct. 13.


“The Curse of Bridge Hollow”

Looking for a family-friendly Halloween movie? “The Curse of Bridge Hollow” offers a good dose of comedy the entire family can enjoy.

The film stars Marlon Wayans and Priah Ferguson as a father-daughter duo who must fend off an ancient and mischievous spirit that wreaks havoc in its wake at Bridge Hollow. Can the dad and his teenage daughter prevail?

"The Curse of Bridge Hollow" is available on Netflix Oct. 14.


“The Good Nurse”

Tobias Lindholm’s new film, “The Good Nurse,” is already garnering an Oscar buzz. Based on a true story, the drama thriller centers on a compassionate nurse named Amy (Jessica Chastain), who feels overworked at an ICU unit. Naturally, when fellow nurse Charlie Cullen (Eddie Redmayne) arrives, Amy feels a good dose of relief from the burden of spreading herself too thin.

As they navigate their demanding night shifts, the two develop a strong bond of friendship. But their closeness gets threatened when Charlie is implicated as the prime suspect in the mysterious deaths of countless hospital patients. Soon, Amy becomes determined to uncover the truth.

"The Good Nurse" is available on Netflix Oct. 19.


“The School for Good and Evil”

Rachel Bloom, Charlize Theron; directed by Paul Feig

Paul Feig’s fantasy action adventure, which is based on Soman Chainani’s best-seller, is about best friends Sophie (Sophia Anne Caruso) and Agatha (Sophia Wylie), who are kidnapped and whisked to the titular manor.

Much to their surprise, their close friendship is suddenly put to test when they find themselves in opposing sides at the enchanted school where young heroes and villains are trained to protect the balance of good and evil.

"The School for Good and Evil" is available on Netflix Oct. 19.


“Cabinet of Curiosities”

Guillermo del Toro’s all-new anthology series features eight unique hair-raising tales of horror. Not much is known about the show’s episodes, which Del Toro, himself, is confirmed to introduce every single one of them. But brace yourself for other-worldly creatures and dimensions that are sure to thrill and chill.

"Cabinet of Curiosities" is available on Netflix Oct. 25.


“Wendell & Wild”

Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele; directed by Henry Selick

Henry Selick’s stop-motion animation stars Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele as two devious brothers who concoct a plan to defeat their rivals while enlisting the help of a 13-year-old girl named Kat (Lyric Ross) to summon them to the Land of the Living.

But ultimately, it becomes a comedic disaster waiting to happen, defying the law of life and death.
