HOLLYWOOD, CA — The 97th Oscars are going down this Sunday, March 2, turning the spotlight on the best cinematic achievements of 2024. Conan O’Brien will serve as master of ceremonies, marking the comedian’s first-time ever hosting Hollywood’s biggest night.
Fifty films are in contention for the Academy Awards, and “Emilia Pérez,” a musical-crime drama about a ruthless cartel leader gone incognito, leads the field with an impressive 13 total nominations, while “The Brutalist,” an epic historical drama about a visionary architect’s life in America post-World War II, follows closely behind with 10 nominations.

“Conclave,” a political-thriller drama set against the backdrop of the Vatican, also shines with eight nominations. “Anora,” a drama about a young woman’s Cinderella story, rounds out the list of top best picture contenders with five nominations.

Conan O’Brien will preside over the ceremony that takes place at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday, March 2. “Parks and Recreation” star Nick Offerman will serve as this year's announcer. The Performances
While the artists behind the Oscar-nominated songs from “Emilia Pérez,” “Sing Sing,” “The Six Triple Eight,” and “Elton John: Never Too Late” will not be performing the original musical pieces in any shape or form, “Wicked” stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are slated to perform alongside other musical artists, including Queen Latifa, Doja Cat, Raye and Lisa of Blackpink. The 2025 Oscars will also feature the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
