BURBANK, CA — Several hundred employees were impacted by layoffs this week at the Walt Disney Co., according to reports.

Many worked in film and television marketing; television publicity, casting and development; or corporate financial operations, according to Deadline, which was the first to report on the layoffs Monday and noted most of the television staffers were believed to be based in Los Angeles.

A spokesperson for the Burbank-based company told the Associated Press that Disney had “identified opportunities to operate more efficiently and are eliminating a limited number of positions.”

This week’s layoffs mark the fourth round in 10 months to affect television operations for the company, according to Deadline. Disney CEO Bob Iger in 2023 announced the company would cut roughly 7,000 jobs to save on costs and reorganize, the Associated Press reported.

Last month, Disney saw solid profits and revenue for the second quarter, according to the Associated Press, with the company's domestic theme parks thriving and over a million subscribers joining Disney's streaming service.
