HOLLYWOOD, CA — Summer is coming to an end — but don't despair! Fall is upon us, ushering in a ton of cheer at the movies.

Will Michael Keaton captivate us again in the sequel "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice"? Will Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga sound music to our ears in the musical psychological thriller “Joker: Folie à Deux”? Or will Brad Pitt and George Clooney be electrifying as professional fixers in "Wolfs"? The list of burning questions goes on.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” (Sept. 6)

Guess what? Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) is back! The rambunctious spirit in the 1988 original movie is once again wreaking havoc in the Deetz family’s country home in Winter River. But will he be able to chase away three generations of the Deetz women — matriarch Delia (Catherine O’hara), her daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder), her granddaughter Astrid (Jenna Ortega)?


“Rebel Ridge” (Sept. 6)

Jeremy Saulnier stars as a Marine veteran whose life is suddenly upended when he attempts to post his cousin’s bail in a small rural town that is laden with corruption. By the end, a violent standoff with the local police chief (Don Johnson) ensues. Expect a suspenseful thriller ride!


“His Three Daughters” (Sept. 6)

Three estranged sisters (Natasha Lyonne, Elizabeth Olsen, Carrie Coon) must return home to care for their gravely ill father. Consequently, long-simmering tensions erupt. Can the sister siblings finally bury the painful past and heal the lingering family wounds?


“The Killer’s Game” (Sept. 13)

What if an ex-assassin diagnosed with a terminal disease had authorized a direct kill on himself to end his life with a big bang? This is the premise of J.J. Perry’s “The Killer’s Game,” a thriller starring Dave Bautista as the former hitman and Sofia Boutella as the love of his life. Surely, leaving this world in style won’t be that easy.


“The Substance”

Margaret Qualley, Demi Moore, Dennis Quaid; directed by Coralie Fargeat

Wouldn’t it be celestially wonderful if there were a way to turn back time to a younger and better version of ourselves when we get old? This movie posits that such a utopia exists in the form of a drug called “The Substance.” Enter Elizabeth Sparkle (Demi Moore), a fading star who, out of desperation, uses the controversial merchandise. Yes, it works, but there’s a catch— that is, you can only revert to your younger you every other seven days at a time. Will the substance satiate Elizabeth’s cravings?


"Wolfs" (Sept. 27)

Brad Pitt, George Clooney; directed by Jon Watts

George Clooney and Brad Pitt star as two lone professional fixers hired separately to cover up the same grisly crime. Complications arise as both men find each other repulsive. Can they reconcile their differences and work together?


“Megalopolis” (Sept. 27)

Francis Ford Coppola’s project sets forth a fractured metropolis on the verge of beyond repair. Well-known architect Cesar Catilina, who is commissioned to rebuild the city, prefers a utopian society. But it will not be an easy feat! Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito) can’t seem to buy his grand vision.


“Joker: Folie à Deux” (Oct. 4)

Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz; directed by Todd Phillips

Joaquin Phoenix and Todd Phillips reunite for the sequel to their 2018 box office hit. The latest offering sheds light on the prankster’s dual identity, both as a psychopath as well as a mere comedian. Along the way, he finally meets the love of his life, Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga). Oh, did we tell you that this movie is a musical?


“Gladiator II” (Nov. 22)

Ridley Scott returns for the sequel to his 2000 Oscar’s Best Picture winner. In his latest offering, Lucius (Paul Mescal), the onetime heir to the Roman Empire, sets out to exact revenge against a Roman general (Pedro Pascal) to return the glory of Rome to the people. Sounds intriguing, to say the least.
