Jonathan Demme, Oscar-Winning Filmmaker, Dead At 73
Breaking: The director died in his apartment due to complications from esophageal cancer.

HOLLYWOOD, CA โ Jonathan Demme, the Oscar-winning director of "Silence of the Lambs," died Wednesday, according to a report. He was 73. Demme's publicist said Demme died in his New York apartment, surrounded by his family. Demme died from complications from esophagael cancer, she said.
