LAPD Plans St. Patrick's Day DUI Patrols In Hollywood

The LAPD plans to ramp up drunken-driving enforcement in and around Hollywood on St. Patrick's Day.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — The Los Angeles Police Department plans to beef up its presence around Hollywood on Monday as part of a St. Patrick's Day crackdown on drunken driving.

The LAPD is planning saturation patrols from 3 to 11 p.m. Monday in the Hollywood and Wilshire areas, police said. The LAPD's Wilshire Area is generally between Melrose Avenue in the north and West Adams Boulevard in the south, and La Cienega Boulevard in the west and Crenshaw Boulevard in the east.

"Don't rely on luck. Plan and make sure you have a sober way to get home," police said in a statement.

Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license, according to the LAPD.
