“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga”

Forty-five years after the original “Mad Max” movie took the cinematic world by storm, the latest installment in George Miller’s post-apocalyptic epic saga is making a big splash this summer with an origin story of Imperator Furiosa, a role Charlize Theron played with verve in 2015’s “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Anya Taylor-Joy plays a young Furiosa, along with co-star Chris Hemsworth as the villainous Warlord Dementus.


“Atlas”

Brad Peyton’s “Atlas” takes aim at the plausibility of artificial intelligence within the context of a sci-fi action thriller. Jennifer Lopez plays the title role of a brilliant data analyst named Atlas Shepherd, whose next mission to capture a renegade robot goes awry. In the end, her only hope is AI. But will she ever trust it, given her deep sense of dubiety on simulated human intelligence?

“Hit Man”

Academia meets the underworld in Richard Linklater’s “Hit Man,” an action-crime comedy about a Pecksniffian professor (Glen Powell) who moonlights as an undercover cop posing as a hitman. But love gets in the way when he falls for a woman (Adria Arjona) stuck in an abusive marriage.


“The Garfield Movie”
