Tami Oldhamโ€™s incredible true story of grit, love and survival at sea comes to life in Baltasar Kormakurโ€™s latest film, โ€œAdrift.โ€

In the movie, Shailene Woodley plays Tami, a 23-year-old avid sailor, who finds romance in the arms of Richard Sharp (Sam Claflin), a fellow wanderer with a passion for the open seas. In 1983, the couple sets out to journey across the South Pacific to deliver a 44-foot sailboat.

What promises to be the adventure of a lifetime turns out to be ill-fated as the couple unexpectedly sail directly into one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in history. In the aftermath of the brutal storm, Tami must use every ounce of her willpower to stay alive as Richard languishes in injury.

See it: Though the screenplay pales in comparison with Oldhamโ€™s 1993 memoir โ€œRed Sky in Mourning: A True Story of Love, Loss and Survival at Sea,โ€ Woodley's performance is ultimately worth watching.

โ€œUpgradeโ€ โ€” Logan Marshall-Green, Richard Anastasios, directed by Leigh Whannell

Set in the not-so-distant future, the movie takes place in a world where technology controls every aspect of life. However, mechanic Grey (Marshall-Green), who is somewhat averse to technology, still prefers to make his living by restoring classic muscle cars.

Then, Grey and his wife (Melanie Vallejo) become victims of a random act of brutality, in which she is murdered and he is left for dead. Technology ends up saving Grey, as a microchip is implanted into his spine, making him not only healthy, but also invincible.

Now burning with wrath and vengeance, he violently and relentlessly seeks out his wifeโ€™s murderers.

See it. This R-rated film is one thrilling ride, notwithstanding its predictable ending.

โ€œAction Pointโ€ โ€” Johnny Knoxville, Susan Yeagley, directed by Tim Kirby

Johnny Knoxville is back for more hilariously painful antics. This time around, he plays daredevil D.C., who owns and operates a low-rent, out-of-control amusement park called Action Point. Before long, a mega park opens nearby, threatening D.C.'s beloved parkโ€™s closure. Can D.C. and his gang of misfits save the day?

Skip it. The movie lacks the contagious laughs of Johnny Knoxville's "Jackass."
