Suspected Hollywood Gunman Booked; Police Find Weapons, Props in Apartment

A stick of dynamite, which was later determined to be a movie prop by LAPD's bomb squad, prompted a second closure closure of Sunset Boulevard and surrounding neighborhoods after police arrested a suspected gunman Monday afternoon.

The incident began at 3:30 p.m. when police received reports of shots fired in the 6600 block of Sunset Boulevard, said Sgt. Rudy Lopez. No one was injured.

Witnesses told police they saw a man firing from a third floor apartment building, Lopez said. Around 5 p.m., police took into custody two men and one woman. They surrendered at the request of police.

During a search of the apartment police also found ammunition, a sawed-off shot gun and an airsoft gun, Lopez said. 

Authorities believe the main suspect was intoxicated, Lopez said. Police did not immediately release the suspect's name, but neighbors identified him as entertainment industry prop master Robert Page-Roberts, NBC4 reported.

Sheriff's online booking records showed a Robert Page, 42, was arrested at 5 p.m. Monday and booked around six hours later at the LAPD's Hollywood Station, where he was being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.

When officers searched the apartment, another man and a woman were also taken into custody, Rayner said. They were later released without being charged, said Lt. David Ferry of the Hollywood Station, who did not know their relationship to the suspect or if they lived in the apartment with him.

The man was booked on suspicion of firing at an inhabited dwelling, and additional filings were possible, including illegally altering a firearm and discharging a firearm within city limits, Ferry said.
