Public Pools Open For Summer Starting Saturday

Summer is definitely here and the city's public pools are gearing up for opening day.

Hollywood Pool and Griffith Park Pool in the immediate vicinty are among 48 public pools planning to open their doors for the first time this season on Saturday.

Use of pools is free for youth 17 and under, seniors and the disabled. Lap passes are available for various programs. Adults showing a Los Angeles City library card get a discount admission price of $2 per entry rather than the regular admission of $2.50.

Hollywood Pool is at 1122 Cole Ave. Hours are as follows:

Opening Day: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

June 24 - June 30: Weekdays 2 - 6 p.m. Weekends 1 - 5 p.m.

July 1 - Aug. 12: Weekdays 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 3  - 6 p.m. Weekends 1 - 5 p.m.

The slide is open Saturday and Sunday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Hours are subject to change. Organized activities include novice swim team, novice synchronized swimming and a junior lifeguard program. (See more about Hollywood Pool's schedule and programs here.)

Griffith Park Pool is at 3401 Riverside Dr. Hours are as follows:

Opening Day: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

June 24 - June 30: Weekdays - 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. Weekends 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

July 1 - Aug. 12: Weekdays 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Weekends 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Aug. 13 - Aug. 19: Weekdays 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.; Weekends 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

There are also plenty of organized activities, such as Novice Swim Team, Novice Synchronized Swimming as well as a junior life guard program and plenty of swimming lessons, as well as scheduled lap time. (See Griffith Park Pool's schedule here.)
