Sharkey's Daughter Pleads Not Guilty to Murder

The daughter of the late actor Ray Sharkey pleaded not guilty today to capital murder in the bludgeoning death of her boyfriend’s mother in Reseda.

Prosecutors allege Cecelia Bonnie Sharkey, 26, of Los Angeles, used a baseball bat to kill 54-year-old Patricia Metropoulos just outside her home on Sept. 19.

The murder count includes the special circumstance allegation of murder while lying in wait. Prosecutors have yet to decide whether to seek capital punishment.

Sharkey is being held without bail and is due back in court Nov. 5, when a date is expected to be set for a preliminary hearing.

Sharkey’s father, who co-starred in the “Wiseguy” television series and won a Golden Globe Award for his work in the 1980 film “The Idolmaker,” died in 1993 of complications from AIDS.
