โCrawlโ โ Kaya Scodelario, Barry Pepper; directed by Alexandre Aja
Alexandre Ajaโs horror thriller stars Kaya Scodelario as a varsity swimmer destined to face off against bloodthirsty alligators gone wild and intensely ferocious.
As the growing threat of a category-5 hurricane has sent tremors of fear and uncertainty through the state of Florida, a million residents are forced to evacuate. However, Haley Keller (Scodelario) defies the marching orders to leave town to search for her missing father (Barry Pepper) in the middle of the unforgiving storm.
Upon reaching her family home, she finds her dad gravely injured in the house's nooks and crannies that are flooding with water. With time running out, the young woman will have to fight to survive alligators that are about to embark on a wild feeding frenzy. Will she and her father make it out alive?
See it. Simply put, youโll end up thinking more about the โcrawlโ spaces in your home long after the movie is over.
โStuberโ โ Kumail Nanjiani, Dave Bautista; directed by Michael Dowse
Kumail Nanjiani and Dave Bautista star as unlikely partners-in-crime in Michael Dowseโs buddy action-comedy about two very different men: one an alpha male, and the other a beta male.
Main protagonist Stu is a sporting-goods store clerk who supplements his meager income moonlighting as an Uber driver. One day, the unsuspecting mild-mannered man picks up a passenger, Vic Manning, a veteran detective who has just learned the whereabouts of the killer of his late partner, Sara Morris (Karen Gillan).
Hell-bent on avenging her death, Manning hires Stu to drive him all over Los Angeles in pursuit of the notorious heroin kingpin Teijo (Iko Uwais).
What ensues is a series of events that will drive Stu and Manning to forge a partnership despite their personal values and differences.
Skip it. The magnetic chemistry between the leads is not enough to buoy a comedic script that lands flat more often than not.
