โIsnโt It Romanticโ โ Rebel Wilson, Liam Hemsworth, Adam Levine; directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson
In โIsnโt It Romantic,โ Rebel Wilson plays Natalie, a New Yorker who is completely jaded when it comes to love. Why? Her mother told her at a young age that all rom-coms were absolute lies. But fate soon intervenes to give her a fresh new perspective on life and love when she encounters a mugger who renders her unconscious.
When she wakes up, she discovers that she is now living in an alternate rom-com reality, where she is a star living richly and famously. She even has a handsome billionaire (Liam Hemsworth) who wants to date her.
For many, all of this would be a dream come true โ but for Natalie, her life has just become her own worst nightmare. How will she end her own rom-com story?
See it. Wilsonโs comedic chops are phenomenal. Besides, donโt you want to find out why the movie title doesnโt end with a question mark?

โAlita: Battle Angel โ Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly; directed by Robert Rodriguez
The latest collaboration between Robert Rodriguez and James Cameron (who wrote the screenplay) is based on Yukito Kishiroโs Manga comic series, โGunnm,โ which is about a dead cyborg brought back to life.
It is the year 2563 in a post-apocalyptic world, and prosthetic expert Dr. Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz) unwittingly finds a cyborgโs head, spinal column and torso while wandering through a tech junkyard. Taken aback, he brings the parts home and fits them together to create a girlโs body frame, bringing to life a teenage female android. Ido calls her Alita (Rosa Salazar) in honor of his young daughter, who was tragically murdered in a burglary.
Alitaโs new life is vibrant and filled with love. Everything is seemingly normal โ that is, until she discovers that she was once a killing combat machine, setting in motion a series of encounters with friends and foes from her past.
See it. The leadsโ stellar performances make the sci-fi film more relatable, personable and engrossing, though the screenplay meanders at times.

โFighting with My Familyโ โ Dwayne Johnson, Florence Pugh, Lena Headey; directed by Stephen Merchant
Based on the true story of British WWE Superstar Paige, Stephen Merchantโs sports biopic follows the life of Saraya โPaigeโ Bevis (Florence Pugh), an untried wrestler who shockingly became the youngest Womenโs Champion in WWE history against all odds.
The movie opens with Saraya and her brother Zak (Jack Lowden), who are excited beyond belief after both receiving an invitation for a WWE tryout. But after the trials, Saraya is the only one picked, earning herself a coveted spot in the competitive training program.
Eyeing a WWE contract, the young novice wrestler adopts the stage name Paige and sets off to train in America. Dwayne Johnson (who co-produced the movie) makes a cameo appearance as WWE Superstar โThe Rock.โ
See it. Full of laughs and fun, the movie about an underdog is highly uplifting and entertaining.
Watch the trailer:
โHappy Death Day 2Uโ โ Jessica Rothe, Israel Broussard; directed by Christopher Landon
In Christopher Landon's follow up to his 2017 sleeper hit "Happy Death Day," Jessica Rothe reprises her role as Tree Gelber, a young woman who had to relive the day of her murder with nightmarish details in a disturbing time loop.
The film picks up after the events of the original movie, as Tree relishes that her never-ending death-day is finally over after outsmarting her tormentor. But she quickly discovers that she is once again stuck in another time loop of terror.
This time around, it happens in a multi-dimensional world, where the emotional stakes are even higher, and Tree is forced to make a painful decision about her turbulent past. Can she prevail and finally find true happiness in the process?
See it. Fans of the original movie will enjoy another delightfully twisted tale of terror punctuated by Rothe's terrific performance, though the concept of alternate realities can be too overwhelming at times.
